Our Story
The "roots" of Thomsens Greenhouse took hold in the late 1970's when Bob & Bonnie Thomsen added a small glass greenhouse to their log home. With more plants than they could use, their neighbors and friends kept buying the extras. So in 1981, the first 30' x 100' greenhouse went up, followed by another in 1982 and the business just kept growing. The Thomsen's are proud of the fact that they have grown into one of Minnesota's largest greenhouse and garden centers, and through this they have helped thousands of gardeners make Central Minnesota one of the most beautiful places to live!
Now, after 27 years, Bob & Bonnie have made the decision to enjoy what they have grown in a new stage of life. With the care and consideration that has accompanied all major decisions at Thomsens Greenhouse, the business has transitioned to a new owner. Bob and Bonnie sought an owner that would carry on the values of quality and integrity, continuing to set Thomsens Greenhouse apart in the Midwest.
The tradition now resides with Arno Shermock, a native of Chaska, and area graduate of St. John's University. Arno is fully committed to continuing the Thomsens Greenhouse and Garden Center tradition of serving as a gardener's paradise and home to a vast selection of the highest quality plant material and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. |

Notes from the Master Gardener
Try a hardy aster or mum this year! If you haven't seen the beautiful yellow blooms of the Yellow Quill Mum or the giant daisy-like blooms of Mammoth Pink mums we recommend checking them out. Not only will you impress your neighbors with the incredible colors in your fall displays, but you can plant them in your garden afterwards and enjoy them in your garden the following year as well!
